My painting style has been most strongly influenced by Romare Bearden, Malkia Roberts and Lois Jones Pierre-Noel. I love color and pattern and use acrylic paints exclusively. I used to create charcoal portraits of passersby on the streets of New York City. I continue to be fascinated with the human face and I still enjoy portraiture. This fascination extends to sculpture, where I use clay and abstract human forms making masks as well as totem-like standing figures. Gullah-Geeche, Caribbean and African cultural images speak through my work. My pieces are in both public and private collections.

I work full-time as an artist in my studio in Fernandina Beach, Florida. My paintings express my love of vibrant, forceful color, my sense of design and my interest in portraiture. I have one foot in the Caribbean and blend cultural influences and folklore with the here and now.

My totem-like standing pieces exude a strength of purpose that seems more in keeping with gigantic work. There is a love for the material inherent in my pieces and almost stamped upon each piece, is my fun in the creative process.
